Real Armería de Madrid

Pretty cool to see the full sets of armor from different time periods and the variants of housing and war armor.Also had extensive weaponry displays as well as ceremonial armor for nobility and kings.There was even a set of children's gilded plate!

THE GOOD: Let me start off by saying that the pieces on display in this collection are amazing, they are truly works of art.THE BAD: the way security treats visitors is atrocious. Unlike the rest of the palace and attached museums and collections, the armoury has no translations and all the information is only in Spanish. So if you don't speak Spanish you're SOL on actually understanding the context and importance of what you're seeing unless you shell out for the audio guide or a guided tour. I would have paid the little extra for the guide if I had been aware of the lack of translation.Luckily however Google translate can now use your camera to translate into whatever language you want in real time! Which would be great if the security guards didn't sprint up to me when I tried translating an information placard and, I'm not joking, proceed to yell at me for about 30 seconds in Spanish, refusing my attempts to explain that I was trying to read the exhibit information, and forcing me to shut off my phone and not just put it back in my pocket but put it zipped away in my backpack.Almost the entire palace has a no photos policy which I personally think is ridiculous as long as you're not using flash photography. The armoury has the most intensely aggressive security I have ever experienced in a museum. It feels like the guards are on a power trip rather than actually an attempt to protect anything. The no photography rule becomes even more ridiculous when you visit the cathedral and royal collections. Both of these actively encourage photography even though their collections would have a much higher risk of being damaged by accidental flashes over the years.

Un lugar excepcional y da entrada a la Galería de las Colecciones Reales

Muy interesante la cantidad de armaduras y armas Reales que se exhiben. Vale la pena recorrerlo, no es una larga recorrida pero la recomiendo. El ticket de ingreso está incluido en el ticket de ingreso al Palacio Real, no tiene costo adicional

Tras una visita guiada por el Palacio real mis hijos (de 9-11 años y muy acostumbrados a hacer este tipo de visitas)fuimos con gran ilusión a ver la armería con tan mala suerte de toparnos con personal de seguridad poco preparada,todo eran malas palabras y malos gestos hasta llegar al punto de tener que abandonar el recinto porque mis hijos sentian miedo por su continua persecución.Entiendo que su trabajo sea aburrido pero yo no tengo por qué pagar su insatisfacción ya que yo estoy de vacaciones y encima he pagado porque se me trate con un mínimo de respeto y educación.

Visita muy interesante, pero el servicio de seguridad muy poco profesional. Al menor movimiento nos llamaban la atención, nos obligaban a llevar la mochila por delante cuando la exposicion no lleva ningun riesgo de deterioro. Además de eso, cabe destacar el continuo seguimiento del equipo de seguridad durante toda la visita. Una pena que una exposición tan interesante como esta quede empañada por un equipo de seguridad tan poco profesional. Hora y día de la visita: 4 de diciembre del 2023, entre las 12:00 y 13:00

One of the best armour museums in the world and they even have medieval dog armour. There is very little information on the items themselves but if you buy a book on armour everything is easily identifiable.

Hoy primer miércoles del mes, se realiza el cambio de Guardia, en el Palacio Real.Es gratuito ( previó cola de 45 mn) para entrar.Le visita al Palacio y a la armería después, ha sido espectacular, impresionante, ha merecido la pena.Tienen también la visita a la cocina real que merece la pena, son 4 euros más.Pero esta muy solicitada por compra online, por lo que queda pocas entradas por ventanilla.Recomiendo la visitas. Merece la pena las colas y las esperas.Pero es historia, nuestra historia que cada vez se da menos.Volveré.Y hoy comienza el Belén, con entrada gratuita.

The place is beautiful, but there are some issues. We visited the armory, open to the public about six months ago at the beginning of 2023. The exhibit is incredible, but there are absolutely no English language, signs or description, or any other type of help For English, speaking people to understand what they are looking at. The collections are amazing but another thing that they could have added are maps and explanations of the historical moment when those armors and other weapons were being used, to give visitors a better idea of the historical time when they were in use
