Arai Aparthotel Barcelona

The Arai hotel is located in a convenient location in Barcelona for getting around but unfortunately must say the room was poorly laid out and far too small for the $515.00 per night that we paid, we stayed 4 nights and it was most uncomfortable.When I booked I had put 3 people in because we were traveling with our son for some reason they said we had two but regardless the Deluxe room we booked is noted as being for 3 people on their site since it has a pull out couch.However if you see in the photos when you pull out the couch the whole room is just a big bed with no space to walk so if you need to use the restroom or try to get to a suitcase you have to roll or crawl over the beds to get to anything, definitely not feeling upscale, honestly I hated being in the room since we had to do gymnastics to make our way around.I don't write reviews too often but for a luxury hotel that again we paid over $515 a night for it had no place to put luggage. it had one armoire to put clothes in so much of our stuff stayed in suitcases for the 4 nights. I was embarrassed to be in the room because it felt like we were in a dorm room with luggage on floor and postage size room with beds taking all floor space.It was nice having the kitchenette but honestly would have preferred a larger room instead.The bathroom had a good shower but this also was poorly laid out and very darkThe front desk had mentioned they could move us toward the last night of our stay and I said ok but then when that day came about they said they booked the room that they were going to move us too so I felt misled.Also there was a constant buzzing noise in the room they came and tried to fix but they couldn't, so we had to live with it.I wish I could recommend the Arai hotel Derby Collection but unfortunately for the high price we paid and the very cramped floor plan I can't since it was one of the low points of all the hotels we stayed in during our travels in Spain.

Don’t skip on this beautiful property if coming to Barcelona! Highly recommend based on our recent 3 night stay. It’s centrally located in the Gothic Quarter and mere steps to metro, grocery, pharmacy, restaurants and bars, and many tourist attractions. (Eg La Ramblas, Mercado do Boquieria, Barcelona Cathedral, etc) We were greeted promptly and with such hospitable service upon check in. Thankfully, we were also able to get into our room earlier than scheduled, which was a huge goal after a long overnight trip. All staff were friendly, accommodating, service oriented.The property itself was built into an old palace, and they did a wonderful job of including the original/old design details but complementing with modern and contemporary touches/finishes. The rooms were immaculate. We had a 2 bedroom suite on the second floor and it was spacious, clean, well appointed (with kitchen/fridge/safe/2 TVs), and the amenities were great as well. The rooftop pool is not heated, so depending on time of year, it may be on the colder side.Some minor feedback and suggestions:- There is a good size fridge stocked with water/pop/beer/wine (pay what you use); I expected some complimentary water in the fridge, but no big deal given grocery sells 2L bottles for .50 euro!- TV channels didn’t always work (again not a major issue since we weren’t in the room a lot, but this would have helped keep kids entertained a bit)- Rooftop does not have umbrellas (not a big deal unless you want to sit in the shade during peak sunlight or just need a sun break)Overall I’d highly recommend this hotel if you’re looking for comfort, luxury, prime location and attentive service in Barcelona. Loved this spot! Had a beautiful room with views into the courtyard close to the hotel. Hotel is so central. It is in the middle of the Gothic Quarter, but it is still very close to the metro as well as some fun sites like the market. If you do have views into the courtyard, the double doors, and Juliet balconies and regular balconies are absolutely gorgeous, though, they may be slightly loud at night. There are often performers in the courtyard near the hotel but they are all professional so I found myself opening the doors to get a better listen. Water pressure at this hotel was absolutely incredible though, for whatever reason the shower took a few tries to figure out how to get it on the setting I wanted. Room service was great, and there are lots of toiletries in the washrooms. The hotel does have a rooftop pool. It is small, but does the job most people use the rooftop for tanning or just relaxing and lounging. Though the hotel is mostly renovated, some small features like the staircase and corridors seem a little older or run down but that is part of the hotels charm (it is a converted palace after all). Finally, the room I stayed in was technically an apartment style so had a small kitchenette between the door and main bed area though I didn’t use it during my stay.

I had a wonderful stay at Arai. My room was spacious and comfortable with a large leather couch. There was so much charm, between the large window, balcony, and stone walls. The kitchen had everything I could possibly need for my stay, and convenient so I didn’t have to eat out every single meal. With a central location, it was easy to get around, but also felt like a neighborhood, with a school and market just a few doors down. The staff was welcoming and attentive. I would absolutely recommend.

We only stayed 1 night, the room was beautiful and clean and comfy . We were told the doors were soundproof but they definitely weren't. Location is great and service was brilliant. I just think for the price some water should be included, only a small thing but I really think all hotels should provide drinking water.

Lovely hotel - stayed here for four nights and absolutely loved it. Location is very close walk to all the attractions we wanted, close to restaurants and bars as well as the beach. There is a rooftop pool, small gym and the actual rooms / building are in a 16th century restored building. Hence the ambiance of the place was incredible.

Stunning hotel apartments. Its central Gotic location meant we were a stumbling distance from amazing cafes, restaurants, shops and bars. The staff are incredible. The rooftop pool was such a treat too.The only thing I'd say was a slight issue was the noise at night. The patio doors were very well sound insulated, but the more determined party goers could definitely be heard well enough to wake us on some occasions.

Our Family spent the most wonderful time here in the summer of 2023. Beautifully designed spaces. Really nice pool. Amazing location.

Great last minute find. Staff was very accommodating as we were from another country and had numerous questions. Room was rustic and fit perfectly into the surroundings. Amenities were great and the location was right in the middle of everything. Guest services went above and beyond to get us tickets for various tours. Would stay here again without hesitation.

Terrific rooms, staff, and a location that surprised us how perfectly situated it was.The staff are amazing and very helpful. Offering up tons of suggestions of places to go and not to go. The Gotic quarter can look intimidating at first, but with reasonable care it's a fun area to explore and quick access to shopping and other tourist activities.There is small pool and sun deck on the 5th floor and a great tapas restaurant on the main.
